The explorer section of the troop is relatively new but will hopefully emulate the success of the other sections! The explorer section of the troop is for those aged between 13.5 and 18.5. The aim is to give scouts of this age more responsibility and flexibility within their scouting programme. We also aim once a month to meet with other explorer sections in the South East Antrim District. Twice a term it will be our turn to host the other troops and what we do on these evenings is entirely up to the explorers themselves. There are several activity badges and group awards open to the explorers. The difference from the other sections will be that the scouts themselves will suggest and plan which badges and activities they want to do, the leaders will be here to facilitate and supervise. |
Welcome!! - Michael Sinclair |
A main aim will also be work on the Chief Scout and Queen scout awards, the highest available to any scout. Hopefully in aiming for these awards the explorers will spend more time away from the hall involved in exciting activities and interacting with other explorers from across the UK and Ireland. We would also hope that when the explorers reach 18.5 they will consider a place in the Scout Network as a young leader for our ever growing troop! |
